I still remember very vividly my first day of remote teaching, it was unforgettable! It was so intense and I didn't know how remote teaching "look-like" until that first day. Like most teachers, I love challenges, so after some weeks of remote teaching I started to get better at that, (or at least, I wasn't that nervous about it!)
Luckily, we're now in the process of returning to our "in-school" teaching. However, there are so many features about remote teaching that I can't just leave behind. I don't know if I can go back to plan my lessons on PowerPoint ... A series of slides now feels just so "lineal". I don't think it would be challenging enough for my students and me. Plus the opportunity to go paperless is so attractive! I started planning my lessons using Padlet . It gives me the opportunity to lay out where I envision my students' learning to go. I can add the resources and links to other websites and PDFs. It's also an opportunity to allow my students to see how their learning journey is supposed to evolve over the different lessons in a term and they can assess their own learning progress too. This is my take on how Padlet can be used for teaching: We are so fortunate at work as each student has their own iPad with them, all day for every lesson, which means that I can share my Padlet link for the Unit of work that we'll be learning that term and students can access and keep the resources on their iPads. As many of you have probably noticed, during the lockdown, students became more independent with their learning and it's certainly something I'd love to continue fostering. Using Padlet, students can also access links to resources and pages for independent learning and revision that I have chosen and shared with them. If you want to learn more about Padlet, please watch this tutorial.

This activity was planned for the last week of term after doing the topic "Une semaine à Paris" The students looked at my pinterest board on monuments from Paris and got some ideas to bake something inspired on a Parisian monument or feature of their choice. I had also prepared a second Pinterest board with Parisian-inspired bakes as well for them to see.During the lesson they completed a handout to help them decide: They had to sketch and justify their choice. Please let me know if you try this activity with your students
I have asked my students to choose activities from this poster to do at home, if it's for instance to cook a Spanish dish, I design some quick activities around that idea for them, for instance 1. they can start by searching online for Spanish recipes, 2 choosing the dish that they'd like to try to cook, 3. make a list of ingredients and look at the method of cooking, etc etc they can translate the recipe from Spanish to English or the other way around, etc This would give the students more control on what they want to explore from the language.
Buenos dias chicas, Today we're going to be looking at the Spanish festivals. Task 1: What do you know about the Spanish festivals or other Hispanic festivals ? We've been using Mira 2 Express with our Year 9. These resources are to teach the last unit called La vida Sana. We've been using TEAMS at work to continue teaching our students and these are the resources I've been using with them. Hope you find them useful, You can adapt and edit them to meet your needs. Again a huge thank you to all the innovative and inspirational teachers who have shared and shaped the activities in these materials.
These resources were created to support students during the school closures in 2020. The remote learning in our school has been amazing and our students can continue their learning from home. The most difficult part is to allow everyone to practise the four skills. Some students are more confident than others as we can observe in the classroom when we teach them face-to-face. Teaching the same students remotely makes this difference more noticeable. It will depend on the teachers knowledge of the class and experience to reach out in order to differenciate and make opporunities for everyone to make progress. These are some of the activities for my Y10s AQA Spanish syllabus Unit 4 Customs and festivals. A huge acknowledgment to all the amazing, innovative teachers who have shared ideas and resources on the different teachers forums as you will find a lot of their work and ideas in the resources that I'm saring with you now.
Bonjour les enfants! Here you will find the work for our remote learning. Task 1: Shall we start with a bit of singing? Do you remember this great song we learned in class? The one where you are a hunter or “chasseur” and there is a lion behind you!!!! You have to walk slowly in small steps while you count in French “un-deux-trois petit pas” then you stop and put one hand on your forehead and you say: “où est le grand lion?” looking for that lion, where’s the big lion, girls? Can you record yourself singing “Où est le grand lion?” song and share it here. You can find the video on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GD6W41yRzq0 Task 2: This term we will learn about a beautiful story called “Les quatre amis” or The Four Friends. Buenos dias chicas, Today we're going to be looking at the differences between life in the UK and in Spain. Task 1: Think about it. In your opinion, how is your family different to a Spanish family? Task 2: Open the Word document and read the instructions. Then, watch the video and answer the questions., please post your work on today's channel. I hope you enjoy it Task 3: Write 50 - 60 words about this topic: ¿Qué actividades haces con tu familia? ¿Qué hiciste el último fin de semana con tu familia? ¿Qué te gustaría hacer con tu familia cuando termine la cuarentena? Task 4: What did you learn from today's lesson? Is there something that you enjoyed the most/least?
