I am thrilled to introduce you to My MFL Box, a dedicated website for language students of French and Spanish, as well as teachers looking for valuable materials to support their language classrooms. My goal with this platform is to assist students in consolidating their language skills and becoming more confident and independent learners, while also providing teachers with tried and tested resources from my own professional experience as an MFL teacher.

My MFL Box
My Learning Journey
I first created this space to provide my MFL students with targeted feedback on grammar points using QR codes that directed them to specific grammar resources. My goal was to help them become more independent and resourceful learners.
Later, during lockdown, this space evolved into a safe, collaborative hub for sharing resources and teaching ideas. It became a way to stay connected, learn from each other, and continue growing as educators.
In 2019, I became a member of the Chartered College of Teaching and completed my first course with them: Evidence-Informed Practice. It was an incredible learning experience that I’d highly recommend to any teacher. That course sparked my interest in further professional development, leading me to pursue and achieve Chartered Teacher Status in 2021.
I was inspired to do this because I firmly believe that, as teachers, we need to keep reinventing ourselves and updating our knowledge. Not because we aren’t good enough, but because reflective practice helps us grow and adapt to the ever-changing world of education.
What I enjoyed most about this journey was the sense of community. I felt empowered to engage with fellow professionals in discussions about the latest pedagogical trends, challenge my own perspectives, and stay grounded and humble throughout the process.
The video on the homepage, which focuses on Cognitive Load Theory: Application in teaching GCSE Spanish, was one of my course assignments for the Chartered College of Teaching. Although it only has 35 views on YouTube, creating it was one of the bravest and most rewarding things I’ve done.

Online A-level Spanish teachers' Forum on FILTA

I am excited to share with you a remarkable experience I had on July 6, 2020. I had the immense honour of presenting my teaching experiences with the Certificate in Languages for Business (CLB) for Year 12 students at the second A-level teachers' forum. This event was organized by Gemma Curto and the research group FLAME at Manchester Metropolitan University, with the invaluable support of FILTA (Film in Language Teaching Association).
Participating in this forum was an incredible opportunity to connect with like-minded teachers and gain insight into the innovative practices taking place in A-level classrooms. It was a day filled with inspiring discussions, informative presentations, and collaborative exchanges of ideas. The passion and dedication of the educators in attendance were truly awe-inspiring.
During my presentation, I had the privilege of sharing my experiences teaching the CLB Spanish program. This unique certificate program is specifically designed for Year 12 students, aiming to equip them with language skills tailored for the business world. The CLB Spanish program not only focuses on linguistic proficiency but also cultivates cultural understanding and practical communication skills necessary for success in the professional sphere.
